When it rains….
The thirsty earth, looks up at the blazing sky, it longs for RAINS. It waits in anticipation for that ‘elixir of life’ to fall in Grey pearls, to quench its thirst, to water the wrinkles, which have appeared on its surface. The wrinkles, which just refuse to go, only water and water alone can fill these ever widening cracks on its face. Water alone can come to the rescue of the poor man of the soil who waits, longs and hopes…
As the scorching sun soaks up all life from earth itself, it is this life saving element which brings back to life all that goes dormant, lifeless and infuses life in every thing big and small. It enlivens the spirit, stimulates the being and most of all washes away, the blues.
Nature is mystifying and never ceases to surprise. Just when one loses all hope, suddenly the sun gives way to dark clouds that hold promises of showers pleasing, beautifying and satiating indiscriminately.
The Grey white pearls thus fall slowly increasing their pace every passing second, filling up those cracks, crevices, dents and perhaps a lot more. The dust settles down, the clouds pour out washing everything away, removing the grime and cleaning the earth of all things dark and shadowy.
As it rains, the scrubbed earth smells, fresh and alive and capable of yielding once again. The trees swaying gently express their gratitude and glee at this sudden relief brought in by the Mother Nature. Leaves are washed clean, while flowers, though a rare sight, adorn these drops like precious jewels on themselves. When those water-laden clouds decide to shed the extra weight, it’s a time of sheer delight and exuberance amongst all. A time of gaiety, as a downpour means local puddles waiting to be splashed, vast open spaces content after drinking this ‘Elixir’. Water quenches as it pours, revives one and all.
Someone has rightly said,
" To know what it is to be drunk, ask a glass of water. "
Those Grey cotton like puffs hanging in the air, shed their darkness and gloom. They shed the black to become snowy again. The sky itself becomes a painter’s palette with hues all alive, vibrant yet so pure.
The beauty spread around in abundance both on heaven and earth is beyond any experience words express and pictures can capture.
Trees, flowers, humans and even animals experience live and love, When it Rains…
The good earth’s thirst is quenched and it’s filled with mirth, When it Rains…
Such is the loveliness, refinement and enigma called Nature, doing a balancing act between extremes of climate. No matter how much the mortal being tries to immunize himself to its effects and manipulates this force, it still continues to Astonish, Surprise and Thrill!
